Fumex’s extraction arm, FUMEX PSS, has been nominated for the German Design Awards 2024. The nomination is for excellent product design in the industry category. An independent, international jury will determine the winner in October, with the awards ceremony held in Frankfurt in January 2024.

FUMEX PSS is one of the latest products to be re-released by Fumex. The upgraded version is, for instance, equipped with Fumex’s trademarked hose connectors (Quick MaiD™), which makes the extraction arm easy to install, clean, maintain, and use.

Before being nominated for its product design, FUMEX PSS got a cleanroom certification, and the hose and gas spring received a food-grade certification. The extraction arm is also ATEX compliant.

Fumex officially launches the new FUMEX PSS, a food-safe extraction arm for industries with demanding hygiene requirements. The antistatic hose is equipped with our Q-MAiD quick hose connectors which are set to make PSS the most easily cleaned extraction arm in its market segment. The quick connectors also make for easy maintenance, assembly, installation, and disassembly.

– The PSS was originally designed to meet the high demands of the food and pharmaceutical industries. It still has a fully sealed profile, acid-resistant stainless steel and is assembled with few components, making it easy to handle. In this new version, we’ve added ATEX compatibility into the mix, says Lars Hedlund, Technical Manager at Fumex.

Food-grade and ATEX compliant

FUMEX PSS is ATEX compliant and meets the requirements of the ATEX directive for category 2 equipment for gas and dust, and it is suitable for use in zones 1 and 21 as well as 2 and 22. FUMEX PSS also has a food-grade certified hose and stainless steel gas spring.

– The exclusive use of food-graded materials along with ATEX makes the PSS perfect for industries and laboratories with highly set hygienic demands. Without a doubt, one of the best extraction arms on the market, says Lars Hedlund.

The term ”Food Grade” refers to the materials used in various types of equipment for the production of food or food-related products. To be defined as food grade, the materials must be non-toxic and safe for consumption.

External support arms

The extraction arm is designed on the fundamental Fumex principle of using external support arms, which produce the lowest possible pressure drop and pose little risk of
blockage.

Fumex announces the official release of the new PSR extraction arm. It is developed to face industrial challenges regarding explosion-classed work environments and is fitted with quick connectors for easy maintenance, assembly, installation, and disassembly. It uses external support arms to produce the lowest possible pressure drop and pose little risk of blockage.

– Thanks to our new quick connection system, FUMEX Q-MaiD, maintenance, assembling, installation, and disassembling of the FUMEX PSR will be easier and faster than most other products out there, says Lars Hedlund, Technical Manager at Fumex.

–Available in two versions

The PSR is available in two versions, EXC and EXD, both delivered in acid-resistant stainless steel. They offer a component-free airflow and have dual grounding for maximum
safety. The PSR comes in 2000, 3000, and 4000 mm lengths and the dimensions Ø100, 125, 160, and 200 mm.

PSR EXC is designed for workplaces with explosive atmospheres from which solvents and corrosive gases must be extracted.
PSR EXD is an extraction arm for workplaces with explosive atmospheres where dust is a major risk factor.

The extraction arm complies with the requirements of the ATEX directive for category 2 equipment for gas and dust, and it is suitable for use in zones 1 and 21 as well as 2 and 22.

Fumex has won the Innovation Company of the Year at the Alvar business gala in Skellefteå. The award was given during the gala night at the Wood Hotel on the 17th of March. Let’s hear what Anders Hedlund, CEO at Fumex, had to say.

Congratulations on receiving the award, Anders. How does it feel to be the Innovation Company of the Year?

– It feels very good and proves that hard work and dedication pay off. In 2019, we won the Export Company of the Year, and it is always good to keep building momentum.

Why do you think Fumex won the award?

– Over the years, we have built a culture where it is acceptable to have setbacks when daring to be great, and that has spurred us to keep testing, trying, even failing, and in the end, innovating.

How was the gala night?

– It was great fun being there with the team and experiencing a fantastic dinner and live performances. I also got to catch up with old friends and business partners, which always is a good time.

So, which award will we go for the next time?

– We could win any of them. Well, maybe, except for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, we’re old-timers!
